Should I continue to rent during the summer?
Yes, if your student is going to continue to play, Austin Music Center recommends renting the instrument over the summer.
-
Continue to practice over the summer. Click for Practice Games and Practice Tips.
-
The summer is a good time to take a few trial lessons with private teachers in the community without the stress of the regular school year. Families are on vacation so teachers often have time slots available.
-
School districts offer music camps beginning the first week of summer vacation. The high school (OPRF) begins band practice before school officially begins.
-
It's a good time of year to emphasize the joy of playing music.
-
Financially, it makes sense to continue to rent. When an instrument is returned, the account is closed. This means money accrued towards the cost of the instrument is lost.
